Over the years...

Sorry to have kept anyone wondering about what happened between me and this guy Don. Yes, this is the same guy I have been married to for 19 years and we have 2 boys ages 14 and 11. Over the years together we have gone camping at least twice a year. Don would sometimes plan a trip to go somewhere without really knowing where we were going to stay. He would pack up the tent and we would drive to our destination then look for a place to stay. I must have been around 20 when we decided to drive down to the Florida Keys. We were going to camp at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and do some snorkeling. We must of drove 28 hours straight and when we arrived it was in the middle of the night. I do not remember why but we could not get in the park until it opened in the morning. So, we pulled out the sleeping bags and slept in the bed of the truck. I remember waking up alone and getting wet from the light rain that had begun to fall during the night. Don had managed to sneak into the truck where he was nice and dry.  We only spent one night camping. The sites were on the beach. But, the beach was filled with super tiny shells that made it very uncomfortable to sleep on. The rest of the trip we spent in a hotel. We had a great time snorkeling and checking out the rest of the keys. I have included a link to Pennekamp if you are interested in checking it out. There are many things to do there. Glass bottom boat tours, an aquarium, scuba and snorkeling,  along with canoeing and kayaking (we have our own canoe and 2 kayaks). I think I will have to show this to Don and see if he wants to take the boys there. But, I will make sure we know where we are staying this time!

  1. Thanks for sharing that link! Although I do love camping, I haven't been fortunate enough to camp anywhere out of the state so far. Hopefully someday though. :)

  2. Thanks for sharing the link. It would be pretty interesting to camp outside of Michigan. You are very lucky to have the opportunity to go camping so often. I never really truly camped until my junior year of high school when I went to the U.P. with a bunch of friends although it was cold sleeping in a tent for the first time I enjoyed myself.
